UNP prepared for elections

The United National Party is prepared for parliament elections at any instance, head of the UNP media unit, MP Lakshman Kiriella said.

Speaking at a media briefing today (Nov. 19th), he said that the current parliament is a distorted one, set up with the intention of extending the government’s power by robbing parliamentarians.

There is a need for a parliament representing the true mandate of this country, he added.

Karuan Amman broke away from the LTTE because he was sick was war. The intention of his group was to live in peace with the civil community. However, there is a question whether this objective was reached. The present regime is using these groups for various purposes, the UNP MP said.
